Resumo

Considering that Brazilian Literature in the school context is not valued and not even considered in its wealth and breadth of knowledge, we seek, through of this research, to provoke a reflection on the importance of the same in the school and outside her. The proposal that was outlined in the assumptions and practices throughout this work, has as its center the formation of the critical reader: someone who can not only absorb the meaning of the text, but also relate their knowledge to the idea of the same, and from that to form a new idea, managing to apply this knowledge in their social environment. From this perspective, the teaching of critical reading in the context of Literature, as a discipline, it can enable the student to trace meanings to the text read, aiming to the improvement of this student and emphasizing this teaching as an educational practice that organizes the mediation between the student and the object (text). We believe that the formation of the critical reader permeates the school. Nonetheless, for this to happen, we understand that it is necessary to rethink the school and its to deal with the contents of Brazilian Literature, so that it becomes a space of training readers as it really should be.
