O Modus Operandi do fluxo migratório haitiano para a Guiana Francesa no século XXI

Abstract

This academic work deals with the modus operandi of the Haitian diaspora. Specifically, the one about the migratory flow to the department of French Guiana. Our objective is to present the strategies, means and the most used routes by the participants of the Haitian diaspora. In this sense, the reasons for the Haitian Diaspora will be listed; the actors, co-actors and constituent institutions of the Haitian migratory flow networks will be identified; and finally, the main routes travelled by immigrants will be demonstrated. Different theories will be used and will serve as a basis for a holistic understanding of contemporary international mobility processes. Methodologically, we used bibliographical research, analysis of official data and surveys of field research conducted in the city of Cayenne between 2015 and 2016. The paper is divided into three sessions. The first one deals with the historicity of the diaspora in Haiti; the second part deals with the relationship between the development of the network society and the institutionalization of migration networks; the last session aims to elucidate some expressions of integration of the Haitian community in Guyanese society. Migration networks have now become an integral part of an embracing family strategy, used as a mechanism for the Haitian diaspora to improve the living conditions of both immigrants and their families in Haiti
