Resumo

Democracy is one of the main characteristics of the Brazilian State, brought by the 1988 Constitution, in its art. 1º, p.ú., where it states that "all power emanates from the people, who exercise it through elected representatives, or directly under the terms of this Constitu-tion." It imposes on society behaviors and attitudes aimed at integrating popular participation in various spheres of Public Administration. In order for the Democracy exercise to take place, political rights have emerged, which in turn depend on electoral enlistment, in the Elec-toral Court. With the enlistment, the person enters the political life, as much as elector or can-didate, according to the norms. In addition to many other means of popular participation pro-vided for in the legal system. All these guarantees, united, form the Citizenship of the indi-vidual. It should be noted that as young people are the future, they should learn from an early age to know their rights and reflect on them so that, in adulthood, they are aware of their rights and duties and how democracy influences life in society, so that we have a better, less corrupt country. The school can be the source of this knowledge, since it has as one of the characteristics to form people, so it is worth bringing Law No. 9.394 / 1996 (Law of Guide-lines and Bases of National Education), in its art. 1, where it provides that education encom-passes not only in the didactic but moral sense, so that we have adults and professionals well trained in all areas of life. In addition, Bill 38, 2015, which will amend Law No. 9,394 / 1996, to include the Citizenship Discipline in the High School curriculum is in progress in the Sen-ate. That is, the school would be the ideal context for the transmission of knowledge about Democracy. Evaluating the legal order of the country, we realized the need to offer content related to the exercise of Citizenship, in what we exemplify with the Young Voter Project, executed in the Municipality of Oiapoque as a Project for University Extension
