Resumo
This article presents The English Language as a mandatory Curricular Component in the New High School from Law nº 13.415/2017 that amended the Law of Guidelines and Bases of National Education (LDB) and the definition of a new curricular organization, more flexible, which includes a National Common Curricular Base (BNCC). Exploring the changes that the New Secondary School brought to the English Language and talking about it, which connects different areas, contextualizing knowledge in the real world and expanding the reach of communication. The methodology used in this article is a bibliographical review to obtain the results, using quantitative research. The results obtained proved to be extremely relevant for the discussions about the methodological and political implications for English language education in New High School, as the English language brings a wide development potential for adolescents and young people in the new proposed model, and even that the reform of the New Secondary School was necessary, these changes should happen gradually, since the proposals require continuous training of teachers, as well as the restructuring of schools. Through these points, it was possible to reflect on the challenges of working The English Language in the New Model.
