Resumo
This research deals with the study of chemical safety carried out in the chemistry laboratories of the main Higher Education Institution in the state of Amapá - UNIFAP, highlighting the observational approach and choosing as its general objective to contribute to the efficiency of safety procedures in the university's chemistry laboratories, aiming to detect areas for improvement in existing safety protocols. The study analyzes chemical safety in the laboratories of the Federal University of Amapá, aiming to identify current practices, existing gaps, and propose improvements. The research was conducted through questionnaires administered to students and teachers, in addition to direct observations of laboratory routines. The results indicate that, although there is awareness of the importance of safety standards, there are still significant flaws in the handling of chemicals and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). The analysis revealed that many students do not strictly follow established guidelines, which can increase the risk of accidents. Based on the perceptions collected, this study proposes the implementation of ongoing training programs and awareness campaigns to reinforce the culture of safety. In addition, it suggests revising internal standards and improving the availability of adequate PPE. Chemical safety is essential to creating a safer laboratory environment, promoting not only the protection of users.
