Abstract

This work presents the culture and religious traditions associated with the festivity of Nossa Senhora da Piedade in Vila do Igarapé do Lago, with the objective of analyzing how the feast of Nossa Senhora da Piedade contributes to the culture and identity of the inhabitants of the village. do Igarapé do Lago is preserved, even in the face of difficulties in maintaining the community's traditions. Igarapé do Lago through interviews and observations that showed how the religious festivity influences the culture and habits of each villager, reaching the conclusion that the mobilization around the festivity reveals cultural and ritualistic traits that are transmitted from generation to generation in order to maintain the main characteristics of the commemoration.
