Resumo
Fruit flies (Diptera: Tephritidae) are considered pests of great agricultural importance in various parts of the world. Due to the high losses caused by these pests due to the direct and indirect damage they cause to the fruits, causing great economic loss in fruit production. It is worth mentioning that direct damages are related to economic damages, that is, the increase in the price of the product on the market due to the proliferation of the larva to the fruit, which causes rot, a fact that contributes to the decrease in exports. With this, it is necessary to present in this new agricultural work scenario, new possibilities in the professional and productive networks, because, we need knowledge to adapt in this era of science and technology. The work aims to apply the rediscovery method as a proposal for phytosanitary education in the control of insect pests with an emphasis on fruit flies. The research method used at Manoel Queiroz Benjamin State School with a 7th grade elementary school class ll was descriptive through experimental practice using applied research methodology in the classroom, consisting of 29 students, 62% male and 38% % female motivated by the curiosity of observation and rediscovered the analysis of the life cycle of fruit flies. The results show that according to the answers obtained in the questioning it was observed that of the 29 students, the majority 76% had no knowledge about the appearance of the fruit bug and only 24% of the students, had already had some kind of practice turned to the knowledge of the biological cycle of insects. The application of the scientific method for visual recognition of the biological cycle of insects with an emphasis on fruit flies applied in the classroom for the 7th grade class, aroused the curiosity and interest on the part of the students, prompting them to question and manipulate the equipment, related to the biological cycle of the insects, shows that the objectives were achieved. However, there is a need to carry out more work through teaching and research actions in basic education in elementary school ll, involving young people in activities that promote greater knowledge about this group of insects such as these aimed at enabling control strategies of this plague
