As músicas da banda "The Beatles" como técnica no ensino de língua estrangeira

Abstract

Music is a widely used resource as an alternative for language teaching, as it is a pedagogical practice tool that helps teachers provide dynamism to classes, optimizing efficiency in the learning process. It is very common to use this resource in language teaching as it helps to consolidate content, also bringing an intercultural approach, involving the student not only in learning a language but also with knowledge of cultural and social contexts related to the language. In this work, the possibilities of using the songs of The Beatles band as a technique in teaching a Foreign Language are discussed. This is a bibliographical research based on studies by authors such as: Murphey (1990 and 1994), Krashen (1987), Brown and Lee (2015), Oliveira (2021), Morosov and Martinez (2008). The results obtained show that it is possible to work on subjects from the English language curriculum, using songs from the band The Beatles and thus construct a more attractive approach, breaking with traditional parameters and awakening students' interest in learning the English language. The proposed activities corroborate the thoughts of the main authors, who defend the use of music as a didactic tool for teaching languages and how they can be applied, seeking to involve students in pedagogical work in the classroom, making the learning process playful and meaningful. Teaching and learning, not only for understanding the language but also assimilating cultural and social characteristics.
