Resumo

Adolescence is a phase of intense changes, marked by internal and external conflicts, so it is a particularly vulnerable period, in which there is a marked potential for change, but also for imbalance, in which suicidal behaviors reach alarming proportions among young people. The objective of the research is to analyze the role of the school regarding the prevention of youth suicide between 15 and 29 years old. The research was carried out at Dom Pedro I State School, located in the city of Mazagão in the State of Amapá. The work was supported by field research and the research approach used was qualitative. The research subjects were adolescents between 15 and 29 years old. The instrument for data collection was the questionnaire. As a result, it was found that the issue of suicide prevention in the classroom is not fully addressed, just as the Dom Pedro I State School does not develop political actions for the prevention of youth suicide, however pedagogues and teachers use possible means to warn about the theme and detect the possible cause or problem, even with all the difficulties due to the lack of continuing education courses for teachers and the non-inclusion of the theme in the school's Political Pedagogical Project
