Resumo
This report focuses on the work of Elza Lima (1952), a photographer from Belém-AP, who
takes photos related to inhabitants of the Amazon region for decades.Containing reflections
on the concepts of performativity and sensuality present in the images she produced between
the years of 1980 to 2010. From Elza’s point of view, It is investigated the creation process,
and consequently, the way her images introduce us to the Amazon. It is noticed a deep
connection to mythology, music and poetry in her creations, resulting in a grasp of an
"enchanted Amazon" in her photos. In order to observe the way in which the public view her
images, data from elementary students in the city of Macapá-AP was collected to reflect
aspects such as the extra-frame and universal aspect of the pictures, based on the
Mondzain(2015) contribution, followed by the way in which the photographer explores the
beauty and the bodies of the ribeirinhos and caboclos from the Amazon. This study allows us
to contribute to the reflection of images as images, not only as a photographic record, and to
gather data about how it is received by the students and teachers.
