Abstract

This study focused on understanding the cassava culture in municipalities of the state of Pará and analyzing the delimitation of a potential production region. To this end, bibliographic research was used to understand concepts and historical contexts related to the topic, as well as qualitative research through semi-structured interviews with rural producers and business owners in the sector, aiming to comprehend the dynamics of cassava cultivation in the studied region. The results revealed several challenges faced by producers, such as lack of visibility, limited financial incentives, and a shortage of technologies to optimize productivity. It was found that there is a territory with common characteristics and practices that can be recognized as a cassava-producing region. However, the implementation of equitable public policies for the entire production chain is essential to strengthen the activity and ensure the sustainable development of the sector.
