Resumo
This work has as main objective the analysis of Lides from Placar magazine,
aiming to observe the use of phraseologies related to soccer language. For this reason, this
work is founded upon theoretical framework based on studies about textual genres,
journalistic genres and about Phraseology, in which fundamental concepts are inserted, such
as: Phraseological units, idioms, metaphors, crystallized structures and lexicalization,
supported by Bakhtin (2003), Comasseto (2001), Nogueira (2008), Lakoff Johnson (2003),
Pottier (1974), Barros (2004), among others. The methodology adopted for this work is the
qualitative research method, aiming at the descriptive and interpretative analysis of the data,
which was selected from five issues from Placar magazine. Our results bring together 33
(thirty three) phraseological units that were analysed based on of five criteria, a) The nonautonomy of a component; b) The impossibility of switching a component; c) Nonseparability of components; d) The replacement of the specific element from a terminological
syntagma for another one, or the entire syntagma for a lexemic termination; e) The frequency
of co-ocurrencies. Therefore, we conclude that the use of phraseologies is very productive in
lides from soccer journalistic reports. For this reason, it is valid to present a suggestion for
Portuguese language teaching in a way to bring it a modest contribution through this work.
