Resumo
This work proposes a Basic Guide to the Museums of Amapá for the Decolonization of History Education, presenting a critical analysis of historical education with a focus on the deconstruction of traditional narratives and the problematization of hegemonic discourses that shape the production of historical knowledge. The visual guide, as a methodological product, is conceived as a resource for educators and students, seeking not only to provide information about the museum collections of Amapá but also to promote reflections on the role of memory, identity, and resistance in the construction of a more inclusive and plural history. By privileging the inclusion of non-conventional historical actors—such as Indigenous peoples, Afro-descendant communities, and other subalternized subjects—the guide aligns itself with the propositions of decolonial education, which aim to destabilize Eurocentric canons and structural silences perpetuated throughout modernity/coloniality. As epistemological reflection on the legacies of colonization becomes more pressing, the questioning of the centrality attributed to traditional versions reinforces the commitment to challenge the hierarchies of knowledge and power that continue to orient the teaching of History, opening space for multiple narratives and for the valorization of alternative epistemologies grounded in ancestral knowledges and community experiences. The visual guide maps the museums located in Amapá and proposes pedagogical strategies that make it possible to confront homogeneous and hegemonic historical versions. By drawing on decolonial theoretical contributions, the work seeks to strengthen teaching and learning processes capable of fostering critical engagement, historical consciousness, and transformative action within the school environment. The Basic Guide to Museums also contextualizes the relevance of these institutions in shaping Amapá’s cultural identity and discusses contemporary issues related to education and the preservation of collective memory.
