Resumo

With the advancement of the construction industry in Macapá, especially in the context of the vertical expansion of the city, it becomes necessary to consider doing geotechnical studies as integrant part of the urban planning. In that regard, a way to turn easier the comprehension of spatialization of these studies is through the conception of maps, which speed up the analysis of relevant parameters for the civil construction sector. The present study used data from 32 Standard Penetration Test (SPT) boreholes located in the studied area, in order to acquire information about the soil characteristics and to continue the study of SILVA (2019). In that sense, these information were employed to produce maps facilitating graphical representation of groundwater depth, impenetrable percussion levels, SPT-N values, and soil morphological composition. Therefore, to achieve this objective, the utilization of a Geographic Information System (GIS) proves essential, as it serves as a computational tool through which geographical data is processed. During the development of this study, it was necessary the elaboration of a database made of information extracted from borehole profiles, alongside the geographic coordinates of each drilling location, obtained through specialized tools. The ArcMap 10.3 software was employed to integrate the database, enabling the application of GIS through the interpolation by the inverse distance weighting (IDW) for the soil attributes. This process culminated in the creation of the surfaces represented on the final maps. Therefore, the combination of geotechnical studies, precise data research, application of GIS and the interpolation techniques were vital for generating clear and informative visual representations of the relevant parameters for civil construction on the area of study in vogue.
