A utilização da arte e da cultura como instrumento político pela Coreia do Sul: a importância e influência da música pop coreana

Abstract

This paper investigates the instrumentalization of culture and art in international politics, focusing on South Korea as an example of the effectiveness of soft power. Exploring the transformation of cultural elements into political and economic means, it analyzes how this strategy is used to influence public opinions and gain political advantages. The "Korean Wave" (Hallyu) is highlighted as a form of cultural diplomacy, promoting South Korean culture globally, with an emphasis on K-pop. Additionally, the study addresses the economic impacts of K-pop in South Korea, such as the increased demand for Korean language education and the boost in tourism driven by interest in pop culture.
