Resumo

In a remarkable upward movement, the idea of linking video games and other fields of knowledge (as well as the other way around) is becoming more present as new generations of young people who have different experiences with this technology enter the academic world, but there is still a need for some impetus in the search for material linking electronic games and theatrical performance. The quest to connect video games and theater, two very different media at first glance, seems absurd, and that's what I thought during the conception of the work as I delved deeper into the research and the authors. As part of this movement, this work aims to contextualize what video games, theatricality and theatrical elements are, as well as establishing the possible links between these strands. The research thus starts from a broader point of view of the history of video games, seeking to establish the concept of art in order to establish whether video games would in fact fit into this role, to then look for what is possible to understand by theatricality and theatrical elements from the point of view of Pavis (2005), only then after establishing the necessary context, the research will focus in particular on the relations with the theater that occur in the electronic game Pathologic 2 by the Russian studio Ice-Pick Lodge.
