Resumo

The advancement of industrialization in civil construction has intensified the use of components manufactured with high dimensional precision, requiring greater rigor in geometric control during building execution. In this context, the internal door is no longer understood as an isolated element and becomes directly dependent on the compatibility between design, execution of the door opening on site, and installation of ready-made MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) door kits. Thus, this research aims to analyze how the lack of coordination among these three axes affects the final performance of building construction, becoming a critical factor during door installation. The study addresses the main concepts of geometry applied to civil construction, as well as methodologies and the use of technologies employed in the verification of level, squareness, and plumb, which are considered best practices and normative guidelines. The research also includes a case study carried out in two residential buildings located in the municipality of Macapá, Amapá, Brazil: Cathedral Tower Residence and Studio Way Building, both constructed by VEX Construções e Incorporações. The investigation adopts a qualitative approach and is characterized as applied research, using as methodological procedures the definition of the object of study, literature review, interviews through structured questionnaires, on-site technical visits, geometric inspections, and photographic records. The results show that, at Cathedral Tower Residence, there was a recurring need for dimensional adjustments in the door openings, mainly due to nonconformities related to the altimetric control of floor levels. These issues caused delays in the release of the openings and required corrective adaptations during the installation of ready-made MDF door kits. This differed from what occurred at Studio Way Building, where level maps and preventive geometric measurements were used to ensure compatibility between the execution stages of the openings and the installation of the kits. It is concluded that geometric nonconformities significantly contribute to rework, productivity loss, material waste, and delays during the finishing stage of buildings. Furthermore, replacing manual adjustments with contemporary technical guidelines—such as the use of metal templates, laser-based as-built verification, level mapping for altimetric floor control, and substrate moisture monitoring—reduces rework, minimizes impacts on the project’s physical-financial schedule, and enhances the final performance potential of ready-made MDF doors.
