A função terapêutica do ensino de uma língua adicional para pessoas com bipolaridade

Abstract

The objective of the article is to present reflections on the teaching of an additional language to people with mental disorders, emphasizing those diagnosed with bipolarity. In the light of what was described, the methodology used was a literature review, and it is, therefore, a study that makes use of the bibliographic dimension of scientific research. From the elements gathered for discussion it was possible to conclude that the learning of an additional language contributes to the gradual improvement of the person with bipolarity, helping in various aspects of their life such as social life, family, friends, studies and professional environment and mood stabilization. Despite this, one of the results obtained demonstrates that the theme of study does not have breadth and visibility in the scenario of Brazilian academic research, with reduced bibliography translated to the Portuguese, as well as counting on the lack of knowledge of society in general on the subject.
