Resumo
The use of computer programs to develop structural projects has become a requirement for any engineering office nowadays, since through them many technical solutions can be tested in a shorter time and with more accurate results, generating safety and savings for the company. This is especially relevant in the case of Special Works of Art (SOAs), which are works of great importance mainly because they are benefited by society in general and are funded by the public budget. In this context, a roadmap was developed for the use of a computational tool in the modeling of a concrete bridge, which is the American software SAP 2000, based on the Finite Element Method (FEM). The structure chosen as a case study is currently under construction over the Jandiá Canal, in the city of Macapá-AP, as a result of an extension project developed by the Federal University of Amapá (UNIFAP). The example mentioned brings together solutions that are widely used in the daily lives of companies that design bridges and viaducts throughout Brazil, such as multi-span bi walls, precast prestressed beams and continuity slabs. The goal of the research is to reach mainly engineering students and bridge designers, considering that the results of the work proved the efficiency of the software, introducing it as another alternative tool available on the market for the design of SOAs.
